Kirsty-Leigh's Story
Kirsty-Leigh Brown is a former Australian artistic gymnast who represented Australia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Born in Albury, New South Wales, on 13 November 1981, she reached the Olympics at the remarkably young age of 14.
Brown trained at the Australian Institute of Sport from the age of nine and quickly emerged as one of Australia's leading junior gymnasts. After competing at the 1995 World Championships, she earned selection for the Australian Olympic team in 1996.
At Atlanta, Brown competed as part of Australia's women's artistic gymnastics team, which finished tenth overall. Her Olympic appearance marked an important milestone in Australian gymnastics, and following her competitive career she remained involved in the sport as a coach and mentor to younger athletes.
