Krystal's Story
Krystal Weir was forced to choose between hockey state titles and sailing at the age of 13. Weir chose sailing, and became the 2004 World Champion in the laser radial class. The Victorian narrowly missed selection for the Athens Games and switched from the laser class to the Yngling, which was worth the effort.
Weir along with teammates Angela Farrell and Karyn Gojnich won silver at the 2008 World Championships. She was selected for the Beijing Olympics as the captain of the Yngling crew, which went on to finish in tenth position.
Weir returned to her preferred laser radial class and was selected to compete at her second Games, finishing in 12th position.
