Lara's Story
Lara Javaise Sullivan is an Australian judoka who represented Australia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Born in Mount Isa, Queensland, on 26 October 1969, she competed in the women's half-middleweight (61 kg) division and was one of Australia's leading judo competitors during the 1990s.
Sullivan earned her Olympic selection through years of success at national and Oceania levels. At the Atlanta Olympics, she competed against the world's best judoka in the half-middleweight category.
Throughout her career, Sullivan captured multiple Australian national titles and Oceania Championships medals, establishing herself as one of Australia's strongest female judoka of the decade. She is also the sister of fellow Australian Olympian Rebecca Sullivan.
