Leiston's Story

Leiston Pickett won the 100m breaststroke at the 2012 Australian Swimming Championships. In booking her spot on her first Olympic Team, Pickett also broke Leisel Jones' stranglehold on the national title which she had held for 12 years. Two years earlier Pickett had shot to fame as she beat Jones to win the (non-Olympic) 50m breaststroke gold at the Delhi Commonwealth Games.

On Olympic debut in London, Pickett missed out on making the 100m final after finishing sixth in her semi. Jones went on to finish fifth in the final.
