Leon's Story

Leon Wiegard OAM was a member of the Australian Men’s Water Polo Team that placed 9th at Tokyo 1964, and 12th at Munich 1972.

An Executive Member of the Victorian Olympic Council, President of the Olympians Club of Victoria and President of the Olympians Club of Australia, Wiegard has 121 international caps to his name.

Wiegard is a Water Polo Australia Hall of Fame Inductee and was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2005.

Leon’s brother Keith also represented Australia in Water Polo at the Rome 1960 Games.
