Malcolm's Story
Malcolm James Allen is a former Australian freestyle swimmer who represented Australia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Born in Wauchope, New South Wales, on 29 May 1973, Allen established himself as one of Australia's leading middle-distance freestyle swimmers during the mid-1990s.
At the Atlanta Olympics, Allen competed in the men's 400-metre freestyle, finishing 13th overall, and was a member of Australia's 4 × 200-metre freestyle relay team, which narrowly missed a medal by finishing fourth.
His international career included major success at the 1995 FINA Short Course World Championships, where he won gold in the 4 × 200-metre freestyle relay and bronze in the 400-metre freestyle. He also earned medals at the Pan Pacific Championships and was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000.
