Mark's Story
Mark Tony Babic is a former Australian footballer who represented Australia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Born in Sydney on 24 April 1973, Babic played as a central defender and enjoyed a successful career in the National Soccer League.
Babic was a member of the Australian Olyroos squad that competed at Atlanta 1996, playing in all three matches of Australia's Olympic campaign. Prior to the Olympics, he had represented Australia at youth international level, including the 1991 FIFA World Youth Championship.
At club level, he played more than 200 National Soccer League matches with Sydney United and Marconi Stallions. He later earned eight senior international appearances for Australia and was part of the Socceroos squad that finished runner-up at the 1998 OFC Nations Cup.
