1964 -

Mark Hager was a dual Olympian for Australia in men’s hockey. He won a bronze medal at his second Games in Atlanta in 1996. The Queenslander was one of the most dynamic forwards ever produced by Australia, his scoring rate placing him among the finest offensive players of his generation. Hager made his Olympic debut in Seoul in 1988, where the team placed fourth, losing the bronze medal final 2-1 to the Netherlands. Hager missed the 1992 Games, where the Kookaburras won a bronze. In Atlanta, he was captain of the team that defeated Germany 3-2 in the bronze medal final to secure a podium finish. Hager has stayed involved with the sport as an elite-level coach. He was a member of the coaching staff of the Kookaburras at the 2008 Olympics where the team won a bronze medal.
