Matthew “Matt” Hayes is an Australian sailor who represented Australia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games in the Soling class. Born in Sydney on 4 February 1964, Hayes developed into one of Australia's leading keelboat sailors, competing internationally throughout the 1990s.

At the Atlanta Olympics, Hayes served as helmsman of the Australian Soling crew alongside Steve Jarvin and Stephen McConaghy. The team finished 12th in a highly competitive Olympic regatta held in Savannah, Georgia.
