Matthew's Story
Matthew Keith Sheldon-Collins is a former Australian baseball player who represented Australia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Born in Melbourne on 13 April 1963, he was one of Australia's leading baseballers during the growth of the sport in the country.
A talented infielder, Sheldon-Collins first represented Australia at the 1988 Seoul Olympics when baseball was contested as a demonstration sport. He later returned to Olympic competition at Atlanta 1996, helping Australia achieve a seventh-place finish in the men's baseball tournament.
Domestically, Sheldon-Collins enjoyed a distinguished Australian Baseball League career, earning All-Star honours and playing a key role in championship-winning teams. His achievements were recognised with induction into the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame, and he later contributed to the sport through coaching, administration and athlete development roles.
