Michael's Story

Cyclist Michael Grenda became Tasmania’s first Olympic champion when he teamed with Kevin Nichols, Michael Turtur and Dean Woods to win the men’s 4000m team pursuit in 1984. He also raced in the 4000m individual pursuit at the Games, being unlucky to be eliminated by the eventual gold medallist, American Steve Hegg, in the quarter-finals.
