Michael's Story
Michael Petkovic is a former Australian football goalkeeper who was selected for the Australian Olyroos squad at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Born in Fremantle, Western Australia, on 16 July 1976, he went on to become one of Australia's most accomplished goalkeepers.
At the time of the Atlanta Olympics, Petkovic was an emerging talent with South Melbourne. Although he did not take the field during the tournament, his selection for the Olympic squad highlighted his standing among Australia's best young goalkeepers.
Petkovic later enjoyed a distinguished professional career spanning more than 400 club appearances in Australia, France, Norway and Turkey. He also earned senior Socceroos selection and represented Australia internationally between 2001 and 2008.
