Murray's Story
1925 -
At Melbourne 1956, Murray Riley teamed up with fellow police officer, Mervyn Wood, to win the bronze medal in the double sculls. Wood had been the Olympic champion in the single sculls at London 1948 and the silver medallist in the same event at Helsinki 1952. Riley had reached the repechage rounds of the double sculls at Helsinki with John Rogers. At the Empire Games at Auckland 1950 and Vancouver 1954 Riley and Wood won the gold medals in the double sculls.
