Patrick's Story
Patrick Alexander Jonker is a former Australian professional road cyclist who represented Australia at the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on 25 May 1969, he became one of Australia's leading road cyclists during the 1990s.
At Atlanta 1996, Jonker competed in both the men's road race and the inaugural Olympic individual time trial. He produced an outstanding performance in the time trial, finishing eighth against the world's best riders.
Jonker enjoyed a highly successful professional career with major European teams, recording victories in races such as the Route du Sud, Grand Prix de Wallonie and the 2004 Tour Down Under. He also achieved an impressive 12th-place finish in the 1996 Tour de France.
