Peter's Story

Peter Grant Blackburn is one of Australia's most accomplished badminton players, representing Australia at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Born in Ballarat, Victoria, on 25 March 1968, Blackburn was a leading figure in Australian badminton for more than a decade.

At Atlanta 1996, Blackburn competed in both the men's doubles and mixed doubles events. Partnering Paul Staight in men's doubles, he reached the round of 16 and finished equal ninth, while also competing in mixed doubles with Rhonda Cator.

Blackburn's international career included four Commonwealth Games bronze medals and multiple Oceania Championship titles. He also captained the Australian national team for many years and later became a respected commentator and ambassador for badminton.
