HAVE A GO AT OLYMPIC SPORTS
Peter's Story
1955 -
Peter Hadfield competed in the decathlon at Moscow 1980 and Los Angeles 1984, with a best placing of 13th in the Russian capital. He was a nine-time Australian champion in the event. He competed at the Commonwealth Games at Edmonton, Canada in 1978 and Brisbane 1982, winning the silver medal at the former. The winner of all of his Olympic and Commonwealth Games competitions was the greatest decathlete of the era, Britain’s Daley Thompson.
After retiring from competition, Hadfield embarked on a career in radio and television as an expert commentator on athletics. In 2006, he received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to athletics and his charitable work.
