South Australian boxer Peter Wakefield competed at his debut Olympic Games in Athens 2004, contesting the under 48kg light-flyweight division. Wakefield went down 29-20 to Namibian boxer Joseph Jermia in the preliminary round. Wakefield won a bronze medal at the 2001 East Asian Games in Osaka.
