Randall's Story
Cronulla-born Randall Goff developed as a water polo player with the Cronulla-Sutherland Water Polo Club before representing Australia at two Olympic Games. He made his Olympic debut at Montreal 1976, aged 23, as part of a team coached by Tom Hoad. Australia finished 11th after contesting the classification round.
Goff returned for the Moscow 1980 Olympics, where Australia opened with a 9-5 victory over Bulgaria. After losses to Cuba and eventual silver medallists Yugoslavia, the team responded with wins over Sweden, Italy and Greece, as well as a draw with Romania. Those results lifted Australia to seventh place, a four-position improvement on its Montreal finish.
