Robert's Story

Robert Bryant developed his water polo career with the Cronulla Sutherland Water Polo Club in Sydney’s south. A versatile aquatic athlete, Bryant earned selection for Australia at the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games, where he made his Olympic debut at the age of 22.

Australia finished seventh in Moscow after moving into the classification round and recording three wins and a draw. Bryant returned for his second Olympics at Los Angeles 1984, helping Australia advance to the final group and finish fifth. The Australians lost only twice across seven matches, including a draw with eventual champion Yugoslavia. Bryant maintained a long association with Cronulla Sutherland after his international career and became one of the club’s most experienced players.
