Russell's Story
Russell Charles Butler is a former Australian diver who represented Australia at the 1988 Seoul and 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Born in Melbourne on 6 March 1968, Butler was one of Australia's leading springboard divers during the late 1980s and 1990s.
At the Atlanta Olympics, Butler competed in the men's 3-metre springboard event, making his second Olympic appearance eight years after his debut in Seoul.
One of the highlights of his career came at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland, where he won the gold medal in the 1-metre springboard event. His achievements helped maintain Australia's strong tradition in international diving.
