Sally's Story

Like many of her family members, Sally Foster was destined for a life in the pool. Her great aunt, Evelyn Whillier (nee de Lacy) was an Olympian in swimming at the Berlin 1936 Games and Foster’s mother was a national champion. Foster made her Olympic debut at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and finished ninth in the 200m breaststroke.

Four years on she returned to again compete in the 200m breaststroke at the London Olympic Games. Foster made the final and finished eighth- 6.41secs behind the USA’s Rebecca Soni who broke the world record in the process of winning London gold.
