Sally's Story
1965 -
Sally McCreedy (McDermid), from the ACT, first represented Australia at softball in 1985. She went on to play over 350 international games, including five world championships and two Olympic Games, at Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000. She won bronze medals at of both her Olympic appearances. The United States defeated China in the gold medal game in Atlanta and four years defended the Olympic title against Japan.
In 2006, McCreedy received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for ‘service to women's softball, particularly as a player and coach’. She was inducted into the ACT Sport Hall of Fame in 2008.
