Sharon's Story

Sharon Lee Cripps is a former Australian sprinter who represented Australia at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Born in Brisbane on 29 June 1977, Cripps specialised in the 100 metres, 200 metres and sprint relay events.

At just 19 years of age, Cripps competed at the Atlanta Olympics as a member of Australia's women's 4 × 100 metre relay team. The team progressed through the heats and finished seventh in the Olympic final.

Cripps later achieved major success at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, winning gold in the 4 × 100 metre relay. She went on to become the Australian national champion in both the 100 metres and 200 metres in 2003.
