Shirley's Story

Shirley Zhou, born Xueni Zhou in Beijing, China, is a former Australian table tennis player who represented Australia at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. After moving to Australia, she became one of the country's leading table tennis athletes during the 1990s.

At the Atlanta Olympics, Zhou competed in both the women's singles and doubles events, partnering her sister Stella Zhou in the doubles competition. She returned at Sydney 2000, where she achieved Australia's best Olympic table tennis result at the time by finishing fifth in the women's doubles with Miao Miao.

Zhou was also an Oceania champion, Australian national champion and multiple-time Victorian champion. Her achievements earned her induction into both the Table Tennis Victoria Open Hall of Fame and Junior Hall of Fame.
