Stephen's Story
Stephen McConaghy is an Australian sailor who represented Australia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Born in Sydney on 15 January 1968, McConaghy competed in the Soling class and built a respected career in elite yacht racing.
At the Atlanta Olympic sailing competition in Savannah, McConaghy competed alongside helmsman Matthew Hayes and crew member Steve Jarvin in the three-person Soling keelboat class, finishing 12th overall.
Following his Olympic campaign, McConaghy established himself as one of Australia’s leading professional sailing tacticians, winning multiple world championships and competing extensively in international offshore and one-design yacht racing.
