Wayne's Story
1978 -
Wayne Ough won a silver medal for Australia in baseball in 2004. From Victoria, the right-hander was part of a strong Aussie pitching squad in Athens. Ough played in three games in Athens without conceding a run. Australia reached the semi-finals by winning four of its seven preliminary round matches, finishing fourth. It beat Japan, the top-ranked team, 1-0 in the semi-final, before losing the final 6-2 to Cuba. The result was Australia’s first Olympic baseball medal. Ough has played professionally in the United States and Japan.
