Anthony's Story
Tony Schumacher was 31 when he made his Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Games. Surf lifesaving since the age of five and dabbling in ironman over the years, Schumacher won silver medals in the open ski race at the 2002 and 2004 Surf Lifesaving World Championships. In 2003 he began kayak training. Schumacher focused on the K4 1000m and placed second and third at World Cup events in early 2008. He raced in the K4 1000m in Beijing. The crew came fourth in a tight semi-final, missing a place in the final by less than one second.
