HAVE A GO AT OLYMPIC SPORTS
Brett's Story
1981 -
Brett Tamburrino won a silver medal for Australia in baseball in 2004. The switch hitter was a busy player in Athens, being used in a number of defensive positions. Australia won four of its seven preliminary round matches, then beat Japan 1-0 in the semi-final. The final, against two-time Olympic champion Cuba, was a controversial affair. Aussie coach Jon Deeble was ejected after protesting a disputed outfield catch by the Cubans. Cuba won 6-2. The silver remains Australia’s only Olympic baseball medal.
