WATER POLO: The USA has powered over Australia’s Women’s Water Polo side today to claim 11-5 in game two.
The Aussie Stingers trailed from the outset and were unable to fight their way back in front of the USA home crowd.
While the two losses against the USA will be a blow for the Aussies, Assistant Coach Eddie Denis believes the team knows what they need to do ahead of the third game to match it with the reigning Olympic Champions.
“We made some good steps in terms of our defence, which is positive. But unfortunately our attack didn’t maintain a level that we had against America in game one.
“I don’t there is anything structurally that needs to change too much. We just have to be able to match the intensity of the Americans and lift our skill level,” said Dennis.
The Aussie Stingers have one game left as part of their USA Tour before they head to China for the World League Super Final to be held from 7-11 June in Shanghai.
The World League Super Final will be the last major Tournament before Australia names their 13 person team for the Rio Olympic Games.
Australia will play USA in the final of the three game series in California on Friday 27 May 12noon (AEST) – live streaming details at www.usawaterpolo.org
