Australian skier Jono Brauer has finished in 51st place in giant slalom in Park City, as the major part of the 2004 season got underway in North America.

Brauer was 3.60 seconds behind Austrian Hans Knauss in the first run, failing to qualify for the 30-man second run.

The race was won by United States skier Bode Miller, who put together a two run total of 2 minutes 20.84 seconds, almost a second ahead of Austrian Hans Schifferer on 2:21.70

Knauss finished in third place on 2:21.84, with superstar team-mate Hermann Maier in seventh place

Brauer finished in 47th place in the opening GS on the Soelden glacier a month ago – but 4.10 seconds behind the first run fastest time - and the OWI scholarship holder will be looking for a better finish tomorrow in Park City in the opening 2004 race of his specialist discipline, the slalom.
