Torah Bright has won back-to-back titles at the Nippon Open, moving up to the number one ranking on the Ticket to Ride pro tour in the process.

Bright demolished a field that included Torino silver medallist Gretchen Bleiler and Salt Lake 2002 gold medallist Kelly Clark, both of the USA, and reigning world champion Manuela Laura Pesko of Switzerland.

Bleiler took the silver medal, with bronze going to Pesko.

The result also puts the 21-year-old Australian into second place on the Global Open Series, the season-long competition that she won last year for the first time.

As well as the 2007 and 2008 Nippon Open victories, Bright also won the event in 2005.
