Alisa Camplin has added the world championship title to her Salt Lake 2002 gold medal with a world record performance on the Olympic jump site in Deer Valley, Utah.

Alisa Camplin has added the world championship title to her Salt Lake 2002 gold medal with a world record performance on the Olympic jump site in Deer Valley, Utah.

The Olympic Winter Institute skier strung together two personal best jumps, and set a world record total points score of 207.31 to claim the crown ahead of defending champion Veronika Bauer of Canada.

Salt Lake Olympic bronze medallist Diedra Dionne of Canada finished in third place.

Australia’s other finalist, Liz Gardner, placed 10th on 157.357 points

It was a brilliant performance by Alisa. She landed a personal best triple twisting double somersault to score 101.88 points in the first round of jumping, claiming second place behind Swiss skier Evelyne Leu on 102.20, with Bauer in third.

In the second round, the Mt Buller skier produced another personal best score on the other triple twisting somersault in her repertoire, taking the title when Leu crashed and plummeted to ninth place overall.

“It was simply awesome jumping by Alisa today,” said OWI coach Todd Ossian.

“Just like in the Olympics, the pressure was really on her in the second jump, and she pulled out a huge pb and a world record to win.”

“She showed everyone again just what a great big occasion performer she is.”
