CoSport launches Beijing ticket sales

CoSport, the Official Ticket and Hospitality Agent of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), announced today the company has launched its first phase of offerings for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

CoSport, the Official Ticket and Hospitality Agent of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), announced today the company has launched its first phase of offerings for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, which will include individual Olympic event tickets, and ticket & accommodation packages.

With this first phase launch, Australia residents will now be able to secure access to one of the most highly anticipated sporting events in recent history.

CoSport has successfully completed an Expression of Interest Phase on its website, www.cosport.com, which ran from December 27, 2006 to March 21, 2007.

This phase primarily functioned to gauge the interest of the Australian public in attending the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and determine what events would be in high demand.

“We are thrilled and surprised with the overwhelming response that we have had from our Expression of Interest Phase of our ticket sales campaign, especially the Opening and Closing Ceremony,” said Kevin Steele, President of CoSport.

During this Expression of Interest Phase, CoSport received 550 unique expressions of interest, totaling 14,070 tickets from the Australian public.

For the Opening Ceremony, CoSport received 371 unique expressions of interest, totaling 1,290 tickets and for the Closing Ceremony, they received 127 unique expressions of interest, totaling 437 tickets.

The high demand sporting events included 3,495 tickets requested for Swimming, 2,104 tickets for Athletics and 818 tickets for Artistic Gymnastics.

“It has been tremendously encouraging to see the enthusiasm that Australian residents have demonstrated in wanting to attend the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. We are proud to be able to provide this rarified access to the Olympic Games to the Australian public,” Steele said.

During the next Request Phase, from mid-April to mid-July, CoSport will accept individual ticket requests at www.cosport.com.au, wherein Australia residents will be able to request tickets for their desired Olympic events.

For oversubscribed events, tickets will be allocated utilising a random computerised selection process on behalf of all the individuals who have made requests to purchase that event.

The AOC and CoSport are confident that Australians will be able to acquire their desired tickets to the majority of the events at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

All information needed to secure Olympic Games tickets including the competition schedule, venue information, times, and prices will be available at the CoSport website in mid-April.

“The Games are less than 500 days away and we are excited to commence our ticket and package sales and countdown to the eagerly awaited Beijing 2008 Olympic Games,” said Sead Dizdarevic, Chairman CEO of CoSport.

“We are excited about our partnership with the Australian Olympic Committee and we will offer the Australian public unparalleled service and access to tickets.”

In addition to individual tickets, Australian residents can choose ticket & accommodation packages in four different hotels in downtown Beijing. Each hotel will have packages consisting of three- to five-night stays.

This represents over 100 different ticket and accommodation packages that vary in content and price for a total of 2360 packages.

Package sales will be on a live, first-come first-serve basis Steele added, “As quality accommodations in Beijing are plentiful, CoSport will continue to locate and contract additional quality properties that we will add to our inventory as they become available. We want to provide the Australian public with the opportunity to experience the ultimate Olympic hospitality experience.”

All information needed to secure Olympic Games tickets and ticket & accommodation packages, including competition schedules, venue information, event times and pricing, is available on the CoSport website at www.cosport.com.au.
