Burton won his way through the qualifying rounds to the semifinals, but missed making it into the 24-man final round by just four places.
He finished in 28th place in what was one of the strongest fields of the season.
The event was won by United States rider Andy Finch from Tommy Czeschin and Antti Autti of Finland. Autti is the current leader of the World Cup halfpipe rankings, Finch won the opening event of the World Cup season and Czeschin was runner up for the World Cup halfpipe title in 1999.
Mitchell Allan fell in both his qualifying runs finishing in 48th, while Ben Mates, Frances Miller and Sasha Ryzy did not compete.
The women's event was won by 2002 Olympic Champion Kelly Clarke of the USA, ending team-mate Hannah Teter's amazing unbeaten streak so far this season. Kjesti Buaas of Norway was in third.
