Australia’s short track skaters have been hit by a mixture of bad draws and injury at the World Short Track Championships over the weekend.
Lachlan Hay battled an ankle injury to record the best placing of the two-man OWI team, finishing 29th in the 1500m.
Jeremy Beck was three places further back in 32nd.
In the 500m, Beck was 35th while Hay was in 48th place, while in the 1000m, Hay placed 31st and Beck 33rd.
“It was not a good weekend for our two skaters,” said OWI short track head coach Ann Zhang.
“Jeremy and Lachlan both had a tough heat in 1500m and had a bad line in the 500m.”
“Lachy's ankle also swelled up again after we arrived in Korea, and he couldn’t bend properly.”
In the overall results, Beck finished 35th and Hay 40th.
