David Morris has won his first medal in aerial skiing Nor-Am competition, collecting bronze in Calgary, Canada.

Morris scored 97.12 points for his opening single twisting triple somersault, then added 104.69 points for his second effort, a double twisting triple, for a total of 201.81 points.

It was the first time the AIS 25-year-old had produced a 200 point-plus total score.

A day ealier he had jumped to his best single jump score, a 108.11 for his double twisting triple.

"The conditions in the second comp today were so windy," Morris said.

"Grossi (OWI Coach Jerry Grossi) and I were both stressing about how much to step up because a lot of people were landing on the knoll."

"I started from very close to the top of the inrun and still wasn't fast enough but managed to land both jumps really well and that's what counted in the end."

Olivier Rochon of Canada took the Calgary gold medal with a 244.51 point total, with team-mate Remi Belanger winning silver on 211.80 points.

In other freestyle results, Perisher skier Sami Kennedy won her first Europa Cup ski cross event, taking the gold in Sudelfeld, Germany, while Karinya Turnbull, also from Perisher, collected her first Europa Cup medal, skiing to bronze in moguls in Megeve, France.
