Ros Lawrence claimed the overall World Cup series title with victory in the Canoe Slalom World Cup final in Prague.

Ros Lawrence claimed the overall World Cup series title with victory in the Canoe Slalom World Cup final in Prague.

The 22-year-old, from Emu Plains in Sydney's west, had a flawless run of 118.10 in the final, to beat local girl Katerina Hoskova, who had a faster time, but picked up two penalty points.

The win also gave Lawrence the overall victory in the World Cup Series as her closest rival, teammate Leanne Guinea, ended up in sixth place in the final event.

Her other big rival, Jessica Fox, who won two of the World Cup races this season, did not contest the Prague event.

"It's always nice to have a good result and a good run to go with it, so I was quite happy," Lawrence said from the Czech capital.

As a lead-up to the World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia, in September, it was a huge boost.

"It's definitely given me the confidence to be so consistent throughout the season, so hopefully I can pull it out again at the worlds," she said.

Australia is the leading country in Women's C1 slalom, but it is not an event at the London Olympic Games. The only event available for women at the 2012 Games is the K1 event. Ros Lawrence, her sister Katrina, and Youth Olympic Games gold medallist Jessica Fox are all vying for the single position.
