Triathlon – World Triathlon Championships Series
Leading the charge in Yokohama, Japan this Saturday 11 May is Tokyo 2020 Olympian Matt Hauser.
He will be joined by teammates Luke Willian, Brandon Copeland, Jake Birtwhistle and Callum McClusky in the men’s and Natalie Van Coevorden, Jaz Hedgland, Sophie Linn and Charlotte McShane in the women’s.
Matt is the one Australian with a top-8 finish and an auto nomination for the Paris 2024 Olympics under Triathlon Australia’s nomination criteria, with this weekend in Yokohama the last chance for others to finish top-eight for an auto nomination.
Australia currently holds two male and two female quota spots for the Paris Olympic Games, as well as a guaranteed spot on the starting line for the Mixed Team Relay event.

Wrestling – World Olympic Qualifiers
In a last bid effort to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Nachi Masuda (62kg women’s wrestling) and Thomas Barns (97kg men’s freestyle) are set to take the mat from today Friday 10 May to Sunday 12 May in Istanbul, Turkey.
The top three wrestlers per each Olympic division will earn a quota spot for Paris 2024.

Canoe Sprint – World Cup
Eleven Paris 2024 selected athletes are competing in the Canoe Sprint World Cup starting today Friday 10 May to Sunday 12 May in Szeged, Hungary for their last hit out this weekend before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Athletics – Doha Diamond League
Seven Australian track and field athletes are set to compete in Doha, Qatar today Friday 10 May in the Doha Diamond League.
World champions Nina Kennedy (women’s pole vault) and Eleanor Patterson (women’s high jump) will open their international campaigns alongside a trio of 1500m runners, Jess Hull, Georgia Griffith and Abbey Caldwell.
Paris 2024 selected men’s discus thrower Matt Denny will line up in Doha fresh off throwing an Australian record of 69.35m at the Australian Athletics Championships last month.
Dual-Olympian Brandon Starc is up against the world’s top 12 men’s high jumpers, including reigning Olympic champions Mutaz Barshim (QAT) and Gianmarco Tamberi (ITA).

Table Tennis – ITTF Oceania Cup
Five Australian table tennis athletes are competing in Noumea, New Caledonia from Saturday 11 May to Sunday 12 May as part of the ITTF Oceania Cup.
Nicholas Lum, Aditya Sareen and Finn Luu will take on the men’s singles competition whilst Yangzi Liu and Minhyung Lee will compete in the women’s singles.

Water Polo – Stingers Test Series v China
The Aussie Stingers will host China for a three-test match Series in Sydney from Sunday 12 May to Friday 17 May.
Just days after becoming the newest members of the Australian Olympic Team for Paris 2024, the team will play their first of three games at Sutherland Leisure Centre on Sunday.
Games two and three of the Test Match Series will be held at Ryde Aquatic Centre on Wednesday at 8pm and Pymble Ladies College on Friday at 7:30pm.
Having been selected for her third Olympic Games, it will be a special opening test match for Keesja Gofers who will also be celebrating Mother’s Day.
This will be the last chance for Aussie fans to see the Stingers in action on home soil before the Olympic Games.

Cycling – Aussies continue Giro d’Italia campaign
Australian road cyclists have been in the thick of the racing during the first week of the three-week grand tour Giro d’Italia.
In Thursday’s stage 6, Lucas Plapp attacked and featured in a three-man breakaway that lasted until the finish line, just outsprinted by Spaniard Pelayo Sanchez and Belgian Julian Alaphilippe to finish third on the stage.
The stage moved Plapp into 15th overall, just behind fellow Australians Ben O’Connor and Michael Storer, in 10th and 11th respectively.
Sprinter Kaden Groves sits second in the points jersey race.
Racing continues with a time trial finishing in Perugia tonight, before moving into some hillier regions in Abruzzo.
