The first OWIA SBX camp in Mt Hotham was a huge success and the progress made by both Damon Hayler and Alex Pullin over the three week period was excellent, reports OWI Head Snowboard Coach Ben Wordsworth.

"Mt Hotham resort produced one of the most progressive SBX courses in Australia to date and supported the program and the athletes to the highest level."

"We focussed on our starting technique during the camp and some changes have made the guys more consistent out of the gate."

"Our preparations for the 2008-2009 season are on track and the athletes are ready and prepared for the opening World Cup in Chapelco, Argentina, in September."

"I want to thank Jason Harding (from the AIS) for putting in a huge amount of effort with the team through this camp, Jason's work with the timing and start gate testing was an invaluable addition to the camp and the athletes' progression."

"After the training camp Hotham hosted a double COC event, one being the Australian National SBX Championships."

"Damon Hayler won on the Saturday and Alex Pullin won on the Sunday, also taking out the title of Australian SBX Champion."

"These events were well respected by the snowboard community and we hope to push into next season with more international riders coming down to compete."
